Heart Attack : Most common question as well as fact which we all are aware about is – Why heart attack comes most commonly in early morning?

One fine morning, Mr. Ramesh – a 48-year-old young, fit, at a healthy weight, and didn’t smoke, drink, or do drugs – was feeling chest pain, along with the feeling he was going to throw up everything.

Suddenly he collapsed on the floor, with sign and symptoms were of a heart attack. Even though he didn’t fit the picture of heart disease or didn’t have the history of heart attack.

We have seen many cases like this , that person is fit till night and doing his regular activities without any complain of pain or discomfort. Even he slept as an routine schedule with no problem at all but unluckily he didn’t wake up.

Another case is like person having a complain of chest pain during night but seems like he have pain due to Gas or acidity, and again same case like above.

The heart attack can happen to anybody and anywhere at any time. The research have shown that morning heart attacks tend to be more severe than those that happen later in the day.

The most critical time is the last phase of sleep and right after you wake up i.e around 3 am to 5 am.

Your blood pressure (BP) is highest in the morning because it rises quickly to get you ready for the day. In fact, your heart needs 50% more blood to go from being a sleep to being an awake. As that blood passes through your blood vessels, the increased pressure can tear the vessel lining.

Blood vessels are generally thicker in the morning. Just as our muscles and joints feel stiffer when we get up, our blood vessels are also thicker and more rigid.

It’s harder for vessels to bend and flex, which makes them more likely to build up plaque; combine that with high blood pressure, and it’s a recipe for artery rupture.

Now, Blood is thicker in the morning. The platelets in our blood, which help it clotting, are stickier in the morning and more likely to stick to blood-vessel walls.

  • Drink Water before Bed,
  • Exercise,
  • Stop Smoking,
  • Eat Smart,
  • Consider delaying your morning workout
  • Get a 7-8 hours sleep
  • Get regular check up after 50 yrs of age
